Meet OAS FCU's new logo

Our Credit Union is evolving. The boss, Carlos Calderon, proposed a few years ago an amazing vision for the future of OAS FCU that reflected perfectly how staff and volunteers wanted the Credit Union to be; that’s why for the last couple of years the Credit Union has

been making a series of changes designed to turn our financial institution of always into a completely modernized organization, one with new technologies, more organic interactions with members, and a way of offering member services that is completely personalized both in person and online. This 2020 Vision has been taking shape in strategic sessions, at the hands of teams that combine staff and volunteers who have worked –and will continue to work- behind the scenes to ensure that each change becomes integrated seamlessly in a way that will not impact the service they provide members.

Among the many places happening at OAS FCU lately, one that has been unknown to us members till now is the creation of the new brand and logo. So here it is.

The current logo maintains all the colors from the original one, blue, green and orange. Back when the previous logo was developed, the colors were chosen after undergoing a long process to determine the impact of each hue on the viewer. They are all lively colors that elicit very positive reactions, and each reflects something different; green is for growth and health; orange, for kindness and trust; blue is for trust and strength. These are very good choices for a Credit Union that aims to be the personal finance team of its members, to help each one of us prosper throughout our lives.

Personally, I also like to think that these colors represent the world and the land (orange),

the biosphere (green) and our seas and skies (blue).

The map in our old logo has not disappeared: instead, it has evolved: OAS FCU is growing, not just in number of members, accounts, or assets. The number of members who are all over the globe continues to rise. That is why the original map of the Americas to include all of Earth, in the shape of a sphere. It’s a shape of soft waves, without angles or corners. It isn’t a complete sphere, yet it hints at one. It resembles a hand that encompasses without pushing, holding something soft but steady; and it’s a sphere in which there is still room for much more, for growth, for expansion and self-fulfillment; and it also represents support, teamwork, and aid.

It reflects very well the values of OAS FCU:

  • Courteous and highly skilled service to members;
  • The ability to continue improving;
  • Communication (which is not easy to spot on the logo, but is clear when you think that I was specifically asked to write a blog article to present and explain the logo!);
  • Teamwork;
  • A culture of openness, respect and professionalism;
  • Stability in the growth and prosperity of the Credit Union, which benefits us all; and
  • Consistent sound business principles and sound, well-informed business decisions.
It’s a logo very apt in symbolism that represents OAS FCU, and I hope you’ll like it as much as I do. Check out the video of the transformation on the link below!
