A Unique Experience


This week Patricia Mercado, OAS FCU’s Marketing Officer was a guest speaker at the Leadership Conference & Expo of the Cornerstone Credit Union League. This conference for credit union leaders gathers people from all over the United States with the intention of presenting and sharing new technologies, ideas, solutions and strategies with present and

future leaders of credit unions. Both organizations and business of all types seek inspiration and teamwork in the event.

Patricia was invited to give a chat about Marketing to Expats. OAS FCU has a peculiar status among credit unions in the US in having 46% of its members that, as a matter of fact, do not live in the country and many of which have never been exposed to the American culture or way of life. Taking advantage of Patricia’s expertise and of the staff in general, OAS FCU has developed a brand identity and a point of view that are unique among credit unions, making it a leader in knowing how to work in satisfying the financial needs of a membership comprised of many nationalities and cultures.

Because of this, Cornerstone asked Patricia to share her years of experience in the development the credit union’s brand identity, and to explain how this type of marketing is not just a matter of good translations; it demands a social and cultural knowledge of the demographic group one serves, as well as strategies that respect this diversity. This invitation represents the recognition, on a national level, of the work, service and dedication that OAS FCU demonstrates towards us, its members.
